HAAPA & HALEC Holding Town Hall Meeting at St. Jerome Church with Congressional Candidates on Sunday August 27
Brooklyn, NY—The Haitian-American Association for Progressive Action (HAAPA) and the Haitian-American Leadership Council (HALEC) are holding a Town Hall meeting on Sunday, August 27 at 2pm at St. Jerome Church located on Nostrand Avenue and Newkirk. This forum gives candidates for the 11th Congressional District the opportunity to meet and greet constituents as well as share their ideas to improve the quality of life of community members. The candidates will have the opportunity to debate their opponents and demonstrate which among them is best able to represent our community in Congress. Candidates for the 11th Congressional District are Hon. Carl Andrews, Hon. Yvette Clarke, Mr. Chris Owens and Hon. David Yassky. Questions posed to the candidates will first come from a panel of Haitian-American professionals and subsequently from the audience. HAAPA and HALEC are affiliated organizations working to significantly increase the level of political participation in the Haitian-American community. This Town Hall meeting is one of the many steps taken to reach this objective. The whole community is urged to participate. ###
