and Civically

HABNET (Haitian-American Business Network) was established as a division of HAAPA in 2004. In 2008 HABNET became a Chamber of Commerce and in 2009 became a separate entity from HAAPA, currently known as HAAPA-PAC. We are dedicated to promoting higher business standards and better business methods, supporting and promoting entrepreneurship, as well as fostering trade and commerce within and between the Haitian Diaspora communities and the global community.  Since 2005 we have provided business education and financial literacy to our members and the public; and provided a platform for networking and collaboration. In the aftermath of the earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12, 2010, we expanded our services beyond providing financial literacy and business education. We partnered with former Councilmember Jumaane D. Williams forming the 45th District Haitian Relief Effort. We established programs and collaborated with other service providers to ensure that people who recently come to Brooklyn from Haiti have access to the immediate resources that they need and are afforded the necessary tools to be self-sufficient. In early 2014 leaders of HABNET CHAMBER OF COMMERCE established Greater New York Community Development Corporation to provide comprehend support, social services and programs that have a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families.
